Asahi Breweries has been brewing beer since 1889 and is the leading brewery and soft drink company based in Tokyo, Japan.

The company has a 40% share of the Japanese beer market and brews a variety of different beers along with the award winning, Asahi Super Dry Beer. The first Asahi beer was the draft lager which was first produced in 1892 and then Ashai Gold took its place in 1957. Asahi Super Dry was introduced in 1987 which started the Japanese craze for dry beer.
Asahi Super Dry beer is a Japanese Rice Lager that pours a clear yellow see through gold with a hopping white head, disappearing quickly. As you lean your nose up to the bottle you can catch a tiny bit of malt grainy-ness, and hints of rice. Other than that, there is not much of a smell to Ashai Super Dry beer. The taste of Ashai is sweet, fruity, grainy, and still has a little bit of hops in it. The beer overall is a very, very light sweet beer with 5% ABV. Some people like it and some people prefer a heavier beer, but everyone has different taste. Asahi Breweries have a wide variety of beers to try and next time in Japan you should check out a couple of beers they have to offer.
