kirin Ichiban of Japan

Kirin Ichiban six pack of bottles Kirin Brewing Company of Japan produces and sells two of the most popular beers in the country Kirin Lager and Ichiban Shibori.  In the early days William Copeland, a naturalized U.S. citizen of Norwegian descent, sailed to Yokohama in 1864 in hopes to make his fortune there.  The brewing industry was taking off so he decided to open up the Spring Valley Brewery because Japan had no brewing industry at the time.  Copeland wasn't able to keep the brewery open due to lack of money and was forced to shut it down.  A year later W.H Talbot and E. Abbot teamed up with two Japanese businessmen Yonosuke Lwasaki and Elichi Shibusawa to reopen Mr. Copelands brewery, by 1888 all the beer took the Kirin label.  Copeland died in 1901 and to this day employees who work at the Kirin brewery still leave cans of Kirin beer at his grave to pay respect and tribute.  Kirin Ichiban can be labeled as a Pale Lager or a American Adjunct Lager and contains 5% alcohol.  Poured, Kirin Ichiban lager has a pale golden color and contains a great carbonation.
Japan with a sunset
Kirin Ichiban close up mug shot The fluffy, white, foamy head forms a perfect cloud, with good stability, and a steady amount of lacing.  The essence of light malt and crispy noble hops fill the air as you raise the glass to your mouth. The taste of Kirin Ichiban lager is very crispy, smooth, and of light malt.  The notes of the noble hops and stewed hops linger around the beer and are faint along with a tad of sweetness.  Kirin Ichiban Lager always goes great with Japanese cuisine like Sushi, Tempura, and Sashimi but can be paired with other Oriental and European foods.  Kirin is available and distributed around the globe in certain places and is also on tap at various Pubs and Bars.
